Quirky & Fun Restaurants in Constantia
Below are some of our favourite Quirky & Fun Constantia restaurants for a fun breakfast, lunch or coffee meet up with mates.
Spirit Cafe
Wanting to treat your body as your temple? Head to Spirit Cafe at the Constantia Mall for some of the best salads in Cape Town. 90% of their options are always vegan and they sometimes have a naughty salad that includes cheese or yoghurt. They are my favourite for a large plate of delicious healthy salad. They have seating outside and inside (find them near Clicks at the Constantia Mall). Highly recommended.

Foxcroft
La Colombe’s Chef has opened a slightly more casual – yet still fine dining restaurant in Constantia. I think anything that the La Colombe team touch turns into a gourmet delight! We loved our Sunday lunch here. The only oddity is it is in a little mall at the entrance to Groot Constantia Wine Estate. So when you sit outside you are literally sitting in the car park. Don’t let that phase you – each dish is a taste sensation of note and I wanted to lick the plates! Note this spot is now almost a year old – but it stays on the hot list for summer as it is fantastic! (Fairly pricey – but top top calibre chefs!)
Chefs Warehouse – Beau Constantia Estate
My TOP RECOMMENDATION for the area. This is a great combo – one of the most beautiful estates in the Cape combined with one of the most talented chefs -Ivor Jones – and jaw dropping views and then add delicious wine – perfection!!! They ARE taking bookings and you do need to book well in advance! Note it is the same 8 course dishes to share between two people, this is the signature of the Chefs Warehouse restaurants. Ivor Jones is masterful in the kitchen. I loved each of his dishes so much I wanted to lick the plates! He enjoys brining in interesting Asian flavours into his dishes! I love it!! Tip – book well in advance.
Tashas at the Constantia Mall
We love the Tashas at the Constantia Mall. This is a franchise group from Joburg. The original “Tasha” is a wonderful Greek restauranteur with a knack for developing delicious dishes, doing beautiful decor and running a tight shop with really good service. The Cape Town branch at the Constantia Mall is owned by a lovely Greek family. I love the food at Tashas – there is a wonderful range of dishes – from great salads, through to sandwiches, fish and meat dishes. Everything is deliciously fresh with wonderful flavours. This is a favourite for lunch if we need to use the mall! Note they have tables outdoors and indoors.
Blockhouse Kitchen
Chef Brad Ball has opened a new restaurant on Constantia Uitsig Estate called The Blockhouse Kitchen. He is in partnership with seasoned restauranteurs Chris and Tammy Botbyl. It is a match made in heaven as Chef Brad can simply focus on what he loves – the food!
This is a well planned menu – it is aimed at locals – they have well priced wines through to top end wines available……..they have options that will make kids happy………..they have fun options with interesting flavours such as Asian inspired pork belly & Korean chicken bun………..this will work for a burger lunch or a steak lunch or a special occasion.
The decor is wonderful – it is well designed by the talented Chris. I liked the decor – contemporary – yet warm and welcoming. In addition there is a fireplace for winter. I think this spot is going to become a local favourite in the Constantia hood. The secret is already out – so make a booking if you are heading there on the weekend for lunch!
Chardonnay Deli
Located in a wonderful old cottage near the entrance to Groot Constantia. This spot is a combo of a deli and a restaurant catering to light meals for breakfast and lunch. They have a lovely outdoor area under the trees. It is like a hidden tranquil oasis. We would recommend them as the perfect spot to meet up with friends for coffee/tea and their wonderful cakes!
